There are many colors of winter, including pink snow even, but the one most think of is simply the color white. White ... in soft woolens and cashmeres, pearls, pastillage, the furs of polar bears and ermine, beveled glass caught in just the right light, the cold glint of silver and white gold, and those little silver dragées used in cake decorating. My mema (grandmother) had a devil of a time trying to take a picture of this little fella. He kept playing hide-and-seek with her until she gave up.
But when I went to take a picture, he looked at me from under a van, he decided he wanted his picture taken after all. This is when he was coming out from hiding- much to mema's annoyance.
